Creating maps, weapons, and everything else

I've seen on some servers people are using their own maps, equipment, weapons (I think) and other things and I was just wondering how they do this.

Like, what type of software and skills do you need as this is the type of voluntary development I wish to get in to within the sands of my time but don't really know where to start.
As I've said in another post somewhere, I'm a little skillful with a programming language VB .NET, and learning Python, but you can't draw maps and everything with a language.

Does anyone know?

well if you want to make, go check the tuturials in the mapping topic, if you want to mod/script, ill write up a guide for you, if you want to create weapons/models for characters aliens etc, ill post up some tuurials for blender and/o 3D studio max.



you may suck at doing these things at first, but over time you get better, MUCh better. so go check the mapping thread if you wanna see how to map! and if you have any questions post them there!


We are creating something called NomX which is a mod with new weapons maps and gameplay for tremulous. so maybe if you get good enough you can help and contribute, its a full clan project

But would this be allowed for me to do this for the clan or would you want it just for done by the clan?

Thanks, I'll go check them now. I think I'll start with maps first, and then when I get a bit better start doing some other stuff like weapons, etc.

haha well the map can be for anything, but if you want to you can make it for NomX, and if you dont like it because of detail or something, ill go ahead and detail it up a little for you if you would like that.

ahhhh yes i was going to ask the same question about NomX. dudes you've all seen KoRs new setup, right? thats the shit i want to get started here. tamaru, what program do i need to make new human+alien models? or at least how do i edit/change their appearance? cuz i wanna custom one for our server and i've got some ideas that i wanna start testing out.

Modeling is MUCH harder compared to mapping so it takes a while to learn, but after you get the hang of it you'll be good.

also server is up but my comps ping is to low for it to show up on masterlist so we are gonna create a donation program to see if we can get a server computer.

Why don't you use Goolge AdSense on the website and PayPal donations or stuff too?
